Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to go for this tour?

The best time to go for the 4-Day Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking Safari is during the dry seasons: June–September and December–February. These periods offer drier trails, easier hikes, and more consistent wildlife sightings. However, travel is possible year-round, and the lush rainy seasons (March–May & October–November) offer fewer crowds and lower rates.

When & how should I book this tour?

We recommend booking at least 3 to 6 months in advance, especially during peak seasons. This ensures your gorilla and chimpanzee permits are secured. Simply contact us with your travel dates, group size, and preferred budget. We'll handle availability checks, permit reservations, and payment guidance.

What level of fitness is required for the trek?

A moderate fitness level is ideal. Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking involves hikes of 2–6 hours through rugged rainforest terrain, often uphill or muddy. Pre-trip walking or hiking preparation is encouraged. Optional porters are available to assist with gear or support.

What should I pack for the trekking safari?
  • Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots
  • Long-sleeved shirts & trousers
  • Light rain jacket or poncho
  • Insect repellent & sunscreen
  • Wide-brimmed hat & sunglasses
  • Gardening gloves for grip
  • Reusable water bottle & daypack
  • Binoculars (optional)
Is this a private or group tour?

This is a private safari tailored to your group. You'll have your own 4x4 vehicle and guide throughout. However, during the gorilla and chimpanzee treks, you join a maximum of 8 trekkers as per Uganda Wildlife Authority regulations.
